How to Prepare Your Shipment for Hot Shot Service in Alberta

Hot shot service in Alberta

Do you have a shipment that needs to be sent ASAP? Hot shot service from Edmonton or Calgary with Airco Aircraft Charters Ltd. is a fantastic choice if you find yourself in need of last minute cargo delivery. While hot shot ground transportation is an option, hot shot service by aircraft charter is a much more efficient choice, especially when time is of the essence.

Hot shot services can be requested on any day of the week, any time of day, giving you peace of mind that your shipment can get where it needs to go. Cargo weight allowances are usually up to around 4,500 kg (10,000 lbs.).

With the time you save by choosing Calgary or Edmonton hot shot service, you can make sure that your shipment is properly prepared for transport.

Boxing Your Shipment

You should always try to use a new box when packaging a shipment for hot shot service. If your only option is to reuse a box, then it must be in good condition, with no rips or tears. The box must be big enough to hold the contents and to allow for proper cushioning. Each item should be wrapped separately by about 5 cm of cushioning material.

Using proper cushioning material is also a must. Do not wrap any items in clothes, blankets, or newspaper. Much better options for packing up items for hot shot service from Calgary or Edmonton include: cell bubble sheeting, air bag, packing peanuts, engineered foam, crumpled Kraft paper, or corrugated inserts.

Just as important as proper cushioning is ensuring that your box is securely closed and wrapped. It is recommended that you use either a two-inch pressure-sensitive or nylon reinforced filament tape. Masking type, paper over-wrap, cellophane tape, or even duct tape may not be strong enough to secure your shipment.

Ensuring that your package is well-cushioned and securely closed will make it easier to handle. Make sure that you have the proper moving equipment or enough people to carry a package to the drop-off location, and that whoever will be accepting it at the receiving end is also well-equipped to safely handle the package when it arrives.

Preparing a Freight Shipment

If you have a substantially hefty freight shipment to send by Edmonton or Calgary hot shot service, then you may have to place the shipment on a pallet (well, some shipments we have to get them to remove the pallet because will not fit through the door of the Navajo or the King Air). Finding the right size pallet to hold all your items can help keep costs down and make for safer packing. Load the pallet by placing all items as close as possible to one another before securing everything firmly in place with multiple layers of plastic wrap.
